TELLOS Bad Guys: TUNRING
I’ve been drawing the protagonists from Todd’s and my TELLOS comic of late– and that’s because I so dearly love those characters. It’s always fun… and renewing, really… to sketch them whenever the mood hits. There are, however, so many interesting and fun characters that were featured in our little foray into creator ownership– allies and enemies… friend and foe. That’s the wonderful thing about what we set up with TELLOS– it’s a colorful world populated by so many terrific characters and races…. and we only really scratched the surface with that first series. One of my favorite moments in the first TELLOS series is when Jarek and company were confronted by the bounty hunters that MALESUR sent after them in issue 3. Todd and I came up with some bizarre and intimidating hunters… and TUNRING was one of my favorite among them. I like his huge stature, his giant club…. and I like, most of all, that RIKK– the smallest of the unlikely heroes in TELLOS– gave him such a hard time. It was perfect and funny and oh so clever on Todd’s part.
So today’s sketch is of the massive TUNRING. In future posts, I’ll revisit some of the other characters from the first series… both good and bad.
This is Entry 402.

Your love of the characters really shows through with these drawings, Mike. Not that your other character sketches don’t pass muster, but it’s easy to see that you’ve cranked it up to “11′ when it comes to the realm of Tellos. Any updates on the Omnibus?

Great sketch Mike, they were only in the story briefly, but they, like the shadow jumpers, made a lasting impression.
So, with a knowing nod to Stan Lee,
Yeee, hah, Mike, “Bring on the Bad Guys!”

Great job as usual, Mike. And I agree with Leaf, it seems like the illustration quality on the Tellos ones are almost commission-esque. Well done!
Add me to the list of people who want details on the omnibus. What’s going on?

Nice drawing.
So are you and Todd making anymore Tellos? Seems there was something about that on his Myspace page.

Mike-
All these sketches! Do you take time in your morning to do them as a ‘warm up / wake up’ exercise?
It’s working for you whatever the process!

…Wow.
This particular piece brings a LOT of Norse mythology right to the front of my brain.
Mike, you gotta get crafty. Sneak Tellos into Icon and work around the exclusivity that way. And then, dammit, work in the Girl by the Sea! (I realize my suggestions and demands don’t have much basis in reality, but it’s 3am, so I’ll spout ’em anyways.)
Seriously, you have so sold me on this book with your blog. Well done, sir.

Jeez, it’s been so long since I read that series I’ve nearly forgotten then entire story… hell, would have to take a trip to my parents house and dig through piles of old boxes to find the collection again… wherever it is.
Might just have to pick up the hardbound collection and keep life simple… what’s the cover price on that bad boy gonna be?

It retails for $39.99.
